What's the story?
For hundreds of years soap was made with just three simple ingredients: olive oil, water, and lye. This formula was a revelation that sustained cleanliness for generations. We’d be using the same soap today except for a recent development that changed the game - the industrial revolution.
As companies began to optimize their soap making processes they discovered a component of soap creation that was particularly useful - glycerin. This natural byproduct of the soap-making process moisturized skin and could be applied in a variety of secondary product in the market. Thus began the industrial era of soap which extracted glycerin for specialty skin care product.
Throughout this time there have been traditional European soaps which have resisted the trends of industrialization and stuck to their artisinal roots. These standards of soap are what we’ve modelled our own formula after in an effort to capture the raw simplicity of soap.
We can’t explain how something so simple has become so complicated, to us it’s just soap!
